NBP To Gradually Increase Its Exposure To Green Bonds

  • This week, the upper house confirmed two new MPC members - Ludwik Kotecki and Przemyslaw Litwiniuk – for 6-year terms.
  • Kotecki seems to be in favor of an aggressive tightening to combat the inflationary pressures; he mentioned in a recent interview that the NBP is likely to raise rates by 50bps in February an continue its tightening cycle in the coming months.
  • Poland’s lower house is also scheduled to vote on its new MPC candidates - Law & Justice lawmaker Wieslaw Janczyk and Gdansk University professor Elzbieta Ostrowska – on Jan 26/27.
  • Poland has financed around 48% of this year’s borrowing requirements according to Finance Ministry.
  • Earlier this morning, NBP Governor Glapinski in an interview that the central bank will gradually increase its exposure in the green bond market.
