New Fortress Energy Aims for First Fast LNG Production in July

New Fortress Energy plans to complete its first Fast LNG unit in May before moving it to offshore Altamira in Mexico in June and producing LNG in July according to a fourth quarter earnings call on Tuesday.

  • The timeline for the first Fast LNG unit has been delayed from March to May.
  • New Fortress is planning five Fast LNG units with two at Altamira, one to the offshore Lakach gas field in Mexico and two to offshore Louisiana. Each unit will be able to produce 1.4mtpa of LNG from 0.18bcfd of natural gas.
  • LNG from Louisiana was originally targeted for Q1 2023 but regulator delays mean the project could be approved in September according to ClearView Energy Partners LLC.
