Newly Appointed Economy Minister To Name Team Details

  • Newly appointed Economy Minister Sergio Massa will start naming his team after taking over the expanded post last week.
  • Late last week, the new minister published a thread on Twitter:
    • Massa said: “I’m no savior. Politics doesn’t need saviors, but public servants”
    • “Order, coordination and planning are the pillars” to resolving economy’s problems.
    • He added that “Argentina’s economic problems won’t be resolved by one person. They’re resolved by teamwork” and that he was “conscious of the difficulties and challenges”.
    • Massa will announce new economic measures on Wednesday, Aug. 3, local outlets including La Nacion reported on Friday.
  • It was announced that Argentine President, Alberto Fernandez, discussed his recent cabinet changes with International Monetary Fund Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva on Friday, according to Fernandez’s spokeswoman.
  • However, this was later rebuked by an IMF spokesperson.
