North Sea Offshore Contractors Resume 48-Hour Strike On Wednesday

Around 1,2000 offshore contractors will resume a 48-hour strike action on Wednesday in the North Sea, which are likely to cause disruption to the operations of the oil and gas sector, Unite the union said.

  • Strike action will hit oil and gas operators including Apache, BP, Harbour Energy, Enquest, Ithaca, Repsol, Shell and TAQA.
  • “We are witnessing the biggest wave of industrial action in a generation in the offshore sector”, John Boland, Unite industrial officer, said.
  • “Around 1200 offshore workers will take part in the latest phase of offshore industrial action, and believe us when we say this is causing widespread disruption to the operations of oil and gas corporations,” Boland added.
