US: Note, Federal Reserve Bank Chairman Jerome Powell is scheduled to testify on
"The Economic Outlook" before Congress's Joint Economic Committee Wednesday
(text 0815ET, actual testimony at 1015ET).
- The testimony may be cancelled, however, due to national day of mourning to
honour former President George H.W. Bush who passed away Friday, November 30.
- That said, the NYSE will be closed along with US government offices in
observance. The Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA)
has recommended fixed income markets to be closed as well, Chicago Mercantile
Exchange U.S. interest rate futures & equity index futures will also be closed.
- SIFMA also recommending that "secondary market cash transactions in U.S.
government and federal agency securities, executed on Tuesday December 4, 2018
and normally settling on Wednesday December 5, 2018, should instead settle on
Thursday December 6, 2018 where practical."
