November Import Prices +0.1%; Export +0.6%

  • U.S. import prices rose 0.1% in November following a 0.1% decline in October, below market expectations for a 0.3% gain, according to figures released Tuesday by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
  • Petroleum import prices were up 2.1% in November after falling 0.1% in October.
  • Excluding petroleum, import prices were flat in November.
  • Export prices rose 0.6% following a smaller 0.2% increase in October. Markets had expected export prices to increase 0.2%.
  • That was mainly driven by prices of exported agricultural commodities, which were up 3.7% after a 3.4% gain in October.
  • Excluding agriculture, export prices rose 0.3% in November.
