  • Industrial production in November rose 0.4% when markets had expected a gain of 0.3%. October's 1.1% increase was revised down to 0.9%.
  • November capacity utilization rose to 73.3%, slightly above expectations of 73%. October capacity utilization was revised higher to 73% from 72.8%.
  • Output in November was roughly 5% lower than its pre-pandemic February level after falling 16.5% between February and April.
  • Manufacturing output rose 0.8% in November for its seventh consecutive monthly gain.
  • That was mainly due to a 5.3% increase for motor vehicles and parts. Excluding vehicles, manufacturing production was up 0.4%.
  • Utilities output fell 4.3% as warmer than average temperatures through the month sent demand for heating plummeting.
  • Meanwhile, mining production rose 2.3% in November following a 0.7% decline in October.
