Occidental To Restart GoM Oil Production After November Leak

Occidental Petroleum Corp. is due to restart some Gulf of Mexico oil production after being asked to curtail offshore production in late November following a US Gulf oil spill from a Main Pass Oil Gathering Co. pipeline.

  • Production will restart from assets in the eastern part of the Gulf “in the coming days” according to a filing on Wednesday.
  • “Following successful pipeline testing, Occidental is awaiting instructions from the system operator to restart production, which is pending final regulatory approvals,” it said.
  • Occidental expects production from the Gulf of Mexico in Q1 about 20% below the mid-point of its guidance at 90k barrels of oil equivalent a day.
