Orban Says “Hungary is on Israel’s Side”; Szijjarto Visits Moscow

  • Speaking to state radio this morning, Prime Minister Orban said terrorism "is unacceptable", adding that "Hungary is on Israel's side", as per MTI. Hungary, he said, had always opposed terrorism and recognised Israel's right to self-defence, adding that the government would pursue a de-escalation policy to prevent an interstate war.
  • Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto is set to visit Moscow at an unconfirmed time, according to Bloomberg. The minister has been among the few European officials to have continued to hold bilateral talks with the government in Moscow.
  • There is little else of note on the local news slate today. There are also no major economic releases on the docket.
