Pakistan Axes Gas Expansion Plans On High Prices

NATURAL GAS

Pakistan is not planning to build new gas-fired plants and LNG terminals in the coming years, as higher prices have weighed on the country’s ability to purchase LNG, Pakistan Energy Minister Khurram Dastgir Khan said.

  • "LNG is no longer part of the long-term plan," Dastgir Khan said.

  • "We have some of the world's most efficient regasified LNG-based power plants. But we don't have the gas to run them," Dastgir added.
