Pandemic Reopening Categories Mixed, Airfares Rebound

Some pandemic-reopening related categories of CPI came back stronger in September for the most part after a summer lull, with Airfares and car/truck rental prices rising for the first time since May.

  • New cars continued a steady ascent, up 0.8% M/M.
  • Lodging contracted for the 3rd month in 4, as did used cars for the 3rd consecutive month.
