Parliament Continues Work On Court Bill To Unlock EU Funds

POLAND
  • Lawmakers from the parliamentary Committee of Justice and Human Rights greenlighted the court law aimed at unlocking EU recovery funds last night, despite criticism from some of Poland's top legal bodies, whose representatives called the legislation unconstitutional. Opposition MPs abstained after their all of amendments were voted down. The bill will have its second reading at 17:00CET/16:00GMT, according to the parliamentary schedule.
  • NBP's Gabriela Maslowska told Radio Maryja that the decision to keep interest rates unchanged last week was correct, as monetary policy is contributing to a gradual cooling of price pressures. It is difficult to estimate when the NBP will be able to start easing monetary conditions.
  • The local economic docket is virtually empty today, with participants on the lookout for new hints on the prospect of adopting the court legislation and unlocking the EU funds.
