PM-Vaccine 'Breaks Link' Btwn Cases/Deaths, Some Precautions May Be Required

Speaking on a trip to a Nissan car factory, UK PM Boris Johnson on regarding the state of the COVID-19 pandemic in the UK.

  • Says that the country is seeing a big increase in cases, but that this is not translating into an increase in deaths (see chart below), stating that the UK's rapid vaccine rollout has 'broken the link' between the two.
  • A plan for 'step four' of unwinding restrictions (essentially a return to 'normality') will be revealed in the coming days. End of restrictions set to come in from 19 July.
  • Does add that 'there may be some precautions' individuals will still have to take.
  • Earlier today The Spectator claimed that the gov't is planning for a near-full removal of restrictions from 19 July, with the 1m social distancing rule scrapped, nightclubs allowed to reopen, face masks no longer mandated, and venues allowed to operate at full capacity.
