GERMANY: Political and judicial fallout from the Constitutional Court (BVerfG)'s
ruling last week on the PSPP.
- Prof. Peter Meier-Beck, a Presiding Judge at the German Federal Supreme Court
(separate from the constitutional court) criticises the BVerfG, expressing
"horror" at the judgement, saying, "The judgement of [the BVerfG] is an attack
on the EU as a legally constituted community of European democracies."
- It appears that many politicians within Germany are either choosing not to
discuss the BVerfG's ruling or reaffirming their support for EU unity, rather
than siding with the Constitutional Court.
