Powell Event Added To Calendar

The latest Federal Reserve calendar shows Fed Chair Powell is to speak on a panel at at The Wall Street Journal Jobs Summit on Thu March 4 (1205ET).

  • Powell's calendar of public appearances had been blank up to the March 16-17 FOMC. As such, some speculation among MNI clients that this was added to the calendar as a possible spot to calm fixed income markets down by the end of next week if required.
  • Though of course we emphasize that's just speculation and more likely that Powell had previously planned to attend this event, the client reaction is illustrative of sensitivities around any change in Fed communications in the coming days given sharp market moves.
