POWER: Estonia’s Renewable Subsidy to Drop to Lowest in Decade: Elering
POWER
Estonia’s renewable energy fee will drop to 0.84c/kWh in 2025 from 1.05c/kWh this year – its lowest level in over a decade, TSO Elering said today.
- The renewable energy fee funds subsidies for electricity produced from renewable sources or in efficient cogeneration.
- The expiration of support periods for older power plants under the fixed-price support scheme is reducing subsidy costs, potentially leading to further fee decreases in the coming years.
- Total estimated subsidy spending for 2025 is expected at €84mn, supporting 1.6TWh of power.
- Subsidies will require €28mn each for wind and solar farms, €23mn for biomass plants, €3mn for recent renewable energy tender projects, and under €2mn for efficient cogeneration.
