Putin Arrives in China, Meets Xi Wednesday

  • President Putin has arrived in China where he will participate in the Belt and Road Forum, according to Chinese state media. He is also set to meet President Xi Jinping on Wednesday, Interfax said earlier.
  • Interfax reported yesterday evening that Putin spoke to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on the phone. “Putin informed [Netanyahu] of the steps being taken by Russia to help normalize the situation, avert any further escalation of violence and prevent a humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip," the Kremlin press service said. "In particular, the Israeli side was briefed on the key points of today's phone conversations with the leaders of Palestine, Egypt, Iran and Syria."
  • There are no major economic releases scheduled for today. PPI data is on the docket tomorrow (Prior: +10.6% y/y).
