UK DATA: Q3 Current Account Deficit Stg22.784bn Vs Stg25.821bn Q2

The UK current account narrowed stg3.0bn from a revised stg25.8bn 
(5.1% of GDP) in Q2 to stg22.8bn (4.5% of GDP) in Q3. This was primarily 
driven by narrowings in the three main deficits: by stg1.8bn in primary 
income, stg1.0bn in secondary income deficit and stg0.3bn in total 
trade. Within primary income, UK investment income narrowed to 
stg11.119bn in Q3 from stg12.857bn in Q2, owing to greater UK earnings 
on investments abroad which rose by stg3.6bn. Within net trade the Q3 
goods trade deficit widened to stg33.561bn, the largest since Q1 2017 
while the services trade suprlus rose to stg27.724bn surplus, the 
largest ever on record -- though note that these data are in current 
prices and not adjusted for inflation.
