EURO-DOLLAR: Recovery away from its retest of Friday low of $1.1017 extended to
$1.1043 in early NY trade before rate settled between $1.1030-40 through to the
close($1.1034). Rate edged to $1.1038 into the Tokyo open before it fell back,
marked lows at $1.1026 before it recovered through the rest of the session,
touching $1.1039 into the European open. Politico report that suggests US Trump
is expected to delay EU auto tariffs for another 6-months had little effect on
the single currency, market expects tariffs to be revisited ahead of next year's
US election. Asian traders report that support remains between $1.1010/00, part
of the interest linked to option expiries through the week at $1.1000 (today
E1.51bln, E1.28bln of EUR puts). Resistance noted at and above $1.1060, with
E1.62bln of options due to roll off between $1.1075-85 at today's NY cut.
- Early attention on speeches by ECB Coeure and Mersch(0800GMT/0830GMT
respectively). Germany ZEW survey due at 1000GMT.
- Fed Clarida(1030GMT), Harker(1755GMT) and Kashkari(2300GMT). US Trump speaks
at the NY Economic Club(1700GMT).
