Reference Rate Expected Unchanged This Evening

PERU
  • According to all 13 surveyed analysts on Bloomberg, Peru’s central bank is expected to keep the key reference rate unchanged at 7.75% today (1900ET/1800 local).
  • Despite the annual headline rate of inflation dropping to 7.97% in April from a prior reading of 8.40%, the metric came in above surveyed median expectations.
  • The latest data and the BCRP’s data dependent stance embolden the call for an unchanged decision and provide little scope for further adjustments in the central bank’s communique.
