Russia and Turkey to Agree on Gas Hub in Near Future: Novak

Russia and Turkey are set to reach agreement on the creation of a natural gas hub in Turkey in the near future according to Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak.

  • "I am sure that agreements on the practical implementation of this project will be reached in the near future," Novak said on Saturday.
  • Gazprom and Botas were cooperating closely and had been discussing the project road map, he added.
  • The roadmap could be implemented before the end of the year, a Turkish diplomatic source told TASS last month.
  • In October 2022, Russia proposed creating a gas a hub in Turkey to redirect the lost gas flows to Europe but the aim has been delayed due to a dispute over which party will take charge of the project, according to Reuters.
