Russia Targets Kyiv with Biggest Overnight Missile Strikes Since Spring

  • Russia targeted Kyiv with the biggest overnight missile attack since the spring and accused Ukraine of sending a swarm of drones against Russian targets that damaged military transport planes at a northwestern airport, Bloomberg report. The attacks came as Ukraine reported its troops pierced the first line of Russian fortifications in the nation’s southeast and are fighting to widen the breach.
  • Foreign Minister Lavrov plans to visit two more Asian countries before attending the G20 summit in India, Vedomosti report. On Sep 8, he will visit Bangladesh. Before that, on Sep 7, Lavrov will attend the 18th East Asia Summit in Jakarta.
  • Headlines have recently crossed wires stating China will release further information on Putin’s visit in due course. Yesterday, Bloomberg reported that the Kremlin is preparing Putin’s visit to China for the Belt and Road Forum in October.
