Russia to China Gas to Reach Prior European Levels: Gazprom CEO

Russian pipeline gas supplies to China “could very soon reach the level that we previously exported to Western Europe," according to Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller on the company Telegram channel.

  • Russia supplies China via the Power of Siberia pipeline which began in 2019. Exports via the pipeline are expected to total 22 billion cubic meters this year and 30 bcm in 2024.
  • Discussions are in place for the power of Siberia 2 pipeline through Mongolia, exporting up to 50 bcm of gas per year. Some discussion about the pipeline are expected to take place this week with Gazprom officials joining Putin in his visit to see Chinese President Xi.
