Russian Gas Flows to Moldova Uncertain from October 1

Moldovan president is unsure about Russian gas supply after October 1.

  • "We have discussed various scenarios in case of gas or power supply disruptions. We are not sure that Gazprom will continue to supply gas to Moldova after October 1. Starting that day, the contract sets a much lower price for Moldova. Should the supply decrease or cease, we are considering energy supply from alternate sources," Moldovan President Maia Sandu said.
  • "We have gas reserves to meet the consumer demand in October. After that, we will act consistent with the scenarios planned for various occasions," she said.
  • "Moldovagaz has a current contract with Gazprom. We are hoping that Gazprom will honor its contractual obligations. Yet, we do not have a clear answer for now, although every month Moldovagaz representatives specify the gas supply amount for next month," she added.
