Russian Naphtha to Asia-Pacific Slumps

Russian naphtha exports to Asia-Pacific dropped to their lowest since 2017 at 350,000t in May according to Vortexa data.

  • Average demand in 2021 was 1mn t a month.
  • Asian naphtha demand has been hit by a reduction in Chinese industrial activity and weak travel given tight lockdowns as well as a reluctance by some buyers across Asia-Pacific to buy Russian products.
  • A single tanker booking has emerged for eastbound travel in June, with BP chartering the Kleon to load 80,000t from Skikda on 3 June for delivery to Japan.
