Russian Pipeline Gas Exports Fell 11.4% MoM In May

Russian pipeline gas exports have declined by 11.4% in the first half of May, compared with the April average, as Turkstream flows fell to the lowest level since January according to Reuters calculations.

  • Pipeline gas flows from Russia to Europe fell to 67mcm/d so far in May, down from an average of 75.6mcm/d in April.
  • Gas supplies via Turkstream in the first half of May fell to 412mcm, or 27.5mcm/d, the lowest level since January.
  • So far this year, Russian gas supplies to Europe totalled 9.1bcm, compared with 62bcm for the whole of 2022.
  • The G7 and EU are expected to decide to prevent the resumption of Russian gas pipeline exports on routes to countries such as Poland and Germany during the next G7 leaders’ summit on 19-21 May according to FT sources.
