Russian Refinery Processing Rates Rose 2.8% MoM in July

OIL

Russia’s oil refineries raised crude-processing rates this month to a daily average of 5.62mn barrels on 1-26 July as major maintenance was completed, a person with knowledge of the matter told Bloomberg.

  • This was up by 154kbpd, or 2.8%, from the same period in June.
  • Of all notable Russian refineries, only the 70,000 barrels-a-day Yayskiy facility in western Siberia, is now undergoing works, Viktor Katona, head crude analyst at Kpler said.
  • Russia’s refineries are expected to keep a high level of crude-processing in August, before the government halves subsidies for domestic supplies of diesel and gasoline from September through 2026.
  • “We would expect refinery runs to remain within the 5.6-5.7mbpd throughout August and only start to decline in September when the autumn maintenance season will start”, Katona said.
