Russian Refinery Rates Fall in May Amid Maintenance

OIL

Russia’s refineries have cut processing rates so far in May amid seasonal maintenance according to a Bloomberg source.

  • Crude oil processing rates fell 220k from April and 300k from March to 5.38mbpd from 1-10 May.
  • The decline reduces domestic demand on crude at a time when Russia has pledged to cut crude production by 500kbpd. The production cuts have not been reflected in recent seaborne crude tracking data although the Russian energy ministry last week suggested April production was down 443kbpd from February.
