S&P500 Firms On Track For a Strong Quarter

EQUITIES

Highlights next week include: PayPal, Qualcomm, T-Mobile, Bristol-Myers Squibb & Berkshire Hathaway.

With over half of the S&P 500 having reported and the bulk of the index by market cap, the trend is clear. Firms are continuing to beat on EPS and sales expectations, with notable outperformance for Communication Services (most notably Alphabet, Facebook, Netflix), Consumer Discretionary and Healthcare sectors. Financials, on average, beat sales and EPS expectations, with busier sales & trading desks countering more muted commercial and retail banking. Utilities and energy names are lagging.
