Senate To Vote On Barrett SCOTUS Confirmation On Oct 22

US

The Senate is set to vote on the confirmation of Amy Coney Barrett for the vacant seat on the Supreme Court bench on October 22.

  • Getting Barrett confirmed to the bench before the presidential election has been a key aim for Senate Republicans. With Barrett confirmed, conservative justices would have a 6-3 advantage over liberals on the Supreme Court.
  • At present is appears likely that Barrett will be confirmed. Only a simple majority of senators' support is needed, and with only Senators Susan Collins (R-ME) and Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) confirming that they will vote against the nomination Barrett is likely to be approved 51-49.
