STIR: Mixed Positioning Swings In SOFR Futures Friday, SFRH5/U5 Block Dominated
STIR
OI points to net long cover dominating in most contracts through the SOFR reds on Friday, as the futures strip twist flattened.
- The major exception came via a net short position being added in SFRU5.
- The net OI change in that contract was seemingly boosted by a block steepener in the SFRH5/U5 spread (+40K).
- Also note that the net OI change in SFRH5 was essentially flat on the day, suggesting that new positioning via that spread block countered net long cover seen throughout the remainder of the day.
- The greens and blues saw a mix of net long setting and short cover.
