BOJ VIEW
BOJ VIEW: Summary of bank desk views ahead of today's BOJ MonPol decision (2/2)
- Commerzbank: We do not envisage any basic adjustment of policy. For the time
being, the BoJ will no doubt resist pressure to start exiting from its loose
stance, as there are no signs of inflation moving towards the 2% target.
- Danske Bank: We are very sceptical that the BoJ will be able to avoid fuelling
normalisation speculation if it hikes the 10-Year yield target in July, and the
risk of JPY appreciation will keep the BoJ sidelined, in our view.
- Nomura: We exp. the BOJ to leave monetary policy unchanged. We think the BOJ
will justify prolonging the current easing policy and underscore the validity of
taking a more flexible approach to easing in order to lessen the side effects on
earnings at financial institutions that have cumulatively built due to the
prolonged easing.
