  • Ten candidates took part in the presidential debate organized by El Tiempo newspaper and Semana magazine on Tuesday. Most candidates running for the Colombian presidency supported tax rises in a debate Tuesday, while a minority argued that a crackdown on corruption would suffice to improve the fiscal accounts.
  • Worth noting, candidate Oscar Ivan Zuluaga participated in the presidential debate while infected with Covid-19, according to one of the nine presidential candidates on the in-person panel.
  • For reference, the first round of the presidential election takes place on May 29 with a likely runoff three weeks later. Left-wing senator, Gustavo Petro, is leading in polls.
