DOLLAR: The DXY printed fresh ytd highs of 97.71 on Friday, before drifting into
the NY close. A quiet session for the USD overnight has seen the index remain at
elevated levels, keeping focus on the topside. Next resistance is seen at 97.87
from the long-term 61.8% retracement of 103.82-88.25, a break here and expect
protection ahead of the 98 level. The May 17 2017 high is placed behind at
98.12, opening a run at the May 16 2017 high at 98.89. Last 97.41. Gold improved
marginally on the session to $1238.20, before fading. Topside focus remains on a
break of the Dec 10 high at $1251.09, opening the 200-dma at $1253.79. Near-term
support at $1232.03 from the 21-dma, ahead of the 23.6% retracement of
$1160.39-1251.09 at $1229.68. The US 10y remains in a consolidation pattern,
last 2.8945%. Quiet on the US calendar today with main highlights from the
Empire State manufacturing survey, prior 23.3, median 20.0(Bbg).
