FOREX: The DXY was choppy, but finished Wednesday's session largely unchanged.
Larry Kudlow was formally announced as trump's chief economic advisor and struck
a hard line on Chinese trade, while Kudlow also noted that he would like the
dollar to be a little higher than it is at present. He also stressed that he
hopes that the FOMC "won't overdo it".
- Soft retail sales data pressured the greenback, despite upward revisions, as
USDJPY pulled back alongside softer US Tsy yields & equities.
- EURUSD traded above 1.2400 in early dealing before ECB President Draghi warned
of the currency's impact on inflation, with rallies in the pair subsequently
capped by the figure after the initial pullback.
- Cable failed to build on early gains running in to selling pressure at 1.40.
- Having broken a major descending trend line off the YTD high, AUD continued to
advance, topping out just in front of 0.7920, before fading.
- NZD is under pressure in early Asia dealing after NZ GDP missed exp.
- CAD stuck to a relatively tight range on Wednesday, with USDCAD sellers
stepping in around 1.2980.
