US: The Office of the U.S Trade Representative said Friday that the latest
principal-level talks between the United States and China were "constructive."
USTR Lighthizer, Secretary Mnuchin, and Vice Premier Liu He "made progress in a
variety of areas and are in the process of resolving outstanding issues.
Discussions will continue at the deputy level," according to the USTR. In a
separate statement, China's Ministry of Commerce noted the "two sides agreed to
properly resolve their core concerns and confirmed that the technical
consultations on some of texts were basically completed." Neither the U.S. nor
China announced a revised location to ink a Phase One deal following the
cancellation of the Chile APEC summit.
