CHINA YUAN: The Yuan saw the weakest close since January 24 on Thursday.
- Yuan weakened 0.26% from Feb. 14, closing at 6.3605 against the U.S. dollar.
- PBOC set the yuan central parity rate vs the US dollar at 6.3530 on Thursday,
weaker than the 6.3428 parity on Feb. 14.
***Traders said some companies and market players are still on the Chinese New
Year vacation, resulting in lower transaction levels on the first trading day
after the week-long holiday. Positive market expectation on the US dollar index
also pressure the yuan outlook as the FOMC minutes shows US Fed officials are
hawkish over further interest rate hikes.
