US TSYS: Treasuries see initial short-covering jump higher amid "slight miss" on
0.2% November average hourly earnings, which compared with the 0.3% median
estimate expected in the MNI economist poll. "The average hourly earnings were
weaker," said one trader. "But don't get me wrong: this was a very very strong
employment report" so the market could later shift focus off tepid inflation
prospects from AHE and back onto the overall strength of the report, and move
lower, he added.
