Trinidad forecasts big jump in crude, condensate output: BNamericas

  • Oil and condensate production in Trinidad and Tobago is projected to average 81,773b/d by 2028, up over 60% from last year’s 50,357b/d.
  • Energy minister Stuart Young said, “the increase in production will be driven substantially by the increase in condensate, primarily from BPTT Cypre and Ginger gas fields and in its joint venture with EOG in the Mento and Coconut gas.”
  • The minister also attributed growth to drilling projects and workovers by state-owned operator Heritage Petroleum, the country’s top oil contributor, particularly a four well campaign on the Soldado East field.
  • “We have also been putting pressure on Heritage to partner with those companies in the industry that have the ability, experience, equipment, wherewithal and appetite to drill and produce oil,” the minister added.
  • Energy ministry data shows that Heritage accounted for 68% of the 50,246b/d of crude and condensate produced in January-October 2024.
  • An additional boost has come from Perenco’s startup of a 37km pipeline from the Teak Alpha production platform to the Galeota terminal, he said.
