Ukrainian Gas Storage Injections Increasing Since May

NATURAL GAS

Ukrainian storage injections have been gradually increasing since May and storage levels are expected to continue to build unless temperatures fall below normal in the Sep and Oct shoulder months.

  • Storage injections or withdrawals in Ukraine can historically vary in direction during the months of September and October.
  • Ukraine storage is up to 29.74% full at 95.75TWh according to GIE data for 23 August.
  • Foreign companies have been storing natural gas in Ukraine with European storage gradually filling towards capacity and up to 91.86% full already on 23 August.
  • A reduction in Norwegian supplies during maintenance over the next month and any LNG strikes in Australia could pressure the end of summer season storage injection rates.
