US Falls With Restart Timeline of Freeport LNG Uncertain

Small gas volumes flowing to Freeport LNG could be to maintain the flare system rather than signally a restart.

  • US prices continue to fall with growing expectations that the Freeport LNG export facility in Texas will remain shut until February or later.
  • Freeport has cancelled some upcoming LNG shipments with one at the end of January and another in early February according to Bloomberg last week.
  • The facility was targeting for a restart in late January but has yet to receive regulatory approval. Approximately 2bcf/d of export capacity from the Freeport LNG terminal has been offline since a fire a June last year.
