DOLLAR-CANADA: USD/CAD has added 11 pips thus far and last sits at C$1.3313
after adding 6 pips yesterday. An uptick in WTI prices might have capped gains
to a degree.
- Worth mentioning that Tsy Board President Philpott quit PM Trudeau's cabinet
yesterday, citing the SNC-Lavalin scandal as a reason for her resignation, while
the Sino-Canadian relationship continues to be tested by political strains
revolving around Huawei.
- The initial layer of resistance is provided by the nearby 5-DMA at C$1.3316. A
clean break above would open up the Feb 14 high of C$1.3340. On the downside,
focus falls on the 50-DMA at C$1.3292. A breach of that level would bring the
100-DMA at C$1.3272 into play.
- The Canadian docket this week is headlined by the BoC MonPol decision due
Wednesday, while domestic labour mkt data comes out on Friday. Elsewhere, BoC
Dep Gov Patterson will speak on Thursday.
