USD/THB Just Shy Of 200-day EMA Resistance, PM and BOT Governor Speaking Today

THB

USD/THB sits near 35.24 in recent dealings, not far from session highs for the week. This puts the baht around 0.10% weaker since yesterday's close. Note the 200-day EMA is very close to current spot levels at 35.29. The 100-day sits further north at 35.58. Recent lows rest close to the 35.00 figure level.

  • Coming up shortly, PM Srettha and BoT Governor Sethaput will give speeches at a local economic seminar (from 9am local time per BBG).
  • We will also get car sales and production data from the Federation of Thai Industries a little later on.
  • October tourism arrivals were 2.2million. A slight uptick on the September number but still down on July highs around 2.5 million. The authorities will be hoping for firmer momentum through NOv/Dec, which is typically stronger from a seasonal standpoint.
  • Thailand equities are mostly drifting sideways, with offshore investors still generally net sellers of local stocks (-$97.1mn so far this week). Bond inflows are more positive (+$243.9mn this week to date).
