USD Weaker, Yen Leading, A$ & NZD UP From Earlier Lows

FOREX

The USD has turned lower in the last part of dealings, with lower USD/JPY levels evident. The pair dipped sub 150.30 on hawkish headlines from BoJ board member Takata's speech (inflation goal finally coming into sight). We were last around session lows at 150.25.

  • AUD and NZD are also up from earlier lows. AUD/USD is back above 0.6500, while NZD is lagging somewhat but still back above 0.6100 now. Outside of the yen gains, a recovery in HK/China equity sentiment from earlier lows is likely helping.
  • US equity futures are up from earlier lows, but still in the red. US yields are grinding higher, led by the front end, but gains are under 2bps at this stage.
