USDCAD Faces Closely Packed Support Levels Pre-FOMC

CANADA
  • USDCAD has again pushed lower after yesterday’s clearance of the key 1.3302 (Apr 14 low) and is currently comfortable 5-10 pips higher than recent lows of 1.3275 that equalled support at the Feb 14 low.
  • Further support closely follows with a vol band undercutting at 1.3271 (1.0% of 10-dma envelope) before 1.3262 (Feb 2 low).
  • Unsurprising with sizeable US dollar weakness ahead of the FOMC (DXY index -0.6%), CAD materially underperforms other high beta peers despite WTI and the S&P E-mini extending gains on the day.
