A Bit Weaker Post-Labor Day

A sharp slide in equities/futures about an hour ago has erased nascent gains/deepened overnight losses in Europe/the U.S.

  • Asian stocks closed stronger, with Japan's NIKKEI up 184.18 pts or +0.8% at 23274.13 and the TOPIX up 11.15 pts or +0.69% at 1620.89. China's SHANGHAI closed up 23.826 pts or +0.72% at 3316.417 and the HANG SENG ended 34.69 pts higher or +0.14% at 24624.34.
  • European equities are under a bit of pressure, with the German Dax down 66.81 pts or -0.51% at 13035.08, FTSE 100 down 31.27 pts or -0.53% at 5907.22, CAC 40 down 60.82 pts or -1.2% at 4995.54 and Euro Stoxx 50 down 26.08 pts or -0.79% at 3288.2.
  • U.S. futures are lower, led by tech, with the Dow Jones mini up 41 pts or +0.15% at 28121, S&P 500 mini down 8.25 pts or -0.24% at 3409.25, NASDAQ mini down 169.5 pts or -1.47% at 11382.75.
