Westpac's Evans Lowers Forecast Profile For 10-Year Yields

AUSSIE BONDS

Westpac chief economist Bill Evans notes that given Westpac's assumption that the neutral RBA cash rate level stands at 1.25% "it seems likely that long term real rates in Australia will remain largely in negative territory."

  • With these observations in mind, Evans has revised his 10-Year yield forecasts lower:
  • December 2021 from 2.1% to 1.9%.
  • December 2022 from 2.5% to 2.1%.
  • December 2023 from 2.9% to 2.3%.
December 2024 from 3.2% to 2.0%.
