ENERGY: What to Watch: ARA Crude, US Oil Stocks & US Fed

  • The latest Genscape European ARA crude inventories will be released today at 09:00GMT. Stocks last week were just below the seasonal normal at 51.4mbbl.
  • The EIA weekly petroleum inventory data for the week ending Jan. 24 is due for release today at 10:30ET (15:30GMT). A Bloomberg survey expects a 2.0mbbl build in U.S. crude stocks, a 0.35mbbl build in gasoline and a 2.15mbbl draw in distillates while refinery utilisation fell 0.30 percentage points.
  • The US Fed rate decision is expected at 14:00 ET. The FOMC will keep the benchmark Fed funds rate on hold on January 29 for the first time in four meetings, as it shifts to a more patient phase of its easing cycle after delivering 100bp of cuts
