ENERGY: What to Watch: Rig Counts & COT

  • The latest Baker Hughes rig count data is due for release at 13:00ET.  The US oil rig count last week fell to 480 and the gas rig count fell back to 100.
  • The ICE and Nymex commitments of traders reports are due for release after the close today at 18:30BST and 15:30ET. Data last week showed funds had raised bullish oil positioning again with net long Brent crude to the highest since May and WTI the highest since July. Funds also increased net long ICE Gasoil positions to the highest since July while the Nymex diesel net short was the least bearish since July.
