UK: With two ministerial statements (one from Home Secretary Priti Patel, one
from Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media, and Sport Nicky
Morgan)coming at 1530GMT the gov'ts motion for an early election is likely to
start around 1730GMT (1330ET, 1830CET).
- There will be 90 mins of debate over the motion, so vote could take place
around 1900GMT (1500ET, 2000CET), with result likely around 15-20 mins later.
- Labour to abstain, but with 2/3 support needed and other opposition against
the vote is very unlikely to pass.
- Following this, Lib Dems/SNP or gov't could seek to table one-line bill to
amend Fixed-Term Parliaments Act to hold election on Dec 9/10/11 (9th the most
likely). Debate and vote would then take place tomorrow.
